I-Stem First International Post-doctoral Program
I-STEM launches its first international post-doctoral program. Positions are intended for highly motivated scientists who wish to pursue their career in the research and development of therapies for rare diseases based on the use of human pluripotent stem cells. Postdoctoral research positions are available for a period of up to three years.
I-STEM is the largest French laboratory for research and development dedicated to the use of human pluripotent stem cells (http://www.istem.fr/en/). Its main mission is the discovery of novel therapeutic strategies for rare diseases. I-STEM’s teams are working on neuromuscular, retina, skin and neurodevelopmental disorders, on basic mechanisms and on the development of new therapeutics including translational programs promoting up to clinical trials pharmacological compounds identified on stem cell models of genetic diseases and cell therapy.
I-STEM is located within the Genopole of Evry, France’s leading biotechnology and biotherapy science park in the southern outskirts of Paris.
Eligibility
The ideal candidate has a strong interest
in basic and translational research in the field of genetic diseases, a solid
background in cell and molecular biology, a good publication record and
excellent references. Applicants who have a post-doctoral experience are also
eligible.
All areas of stem cell will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals with expertise in human pluripotent stems cells.
The application must contain a research plan that outlines research visions and topics, with reference to the three keywords that govern the I-Stem Institute, namely, “therapeutics”, “pluripotent stem cells”, “monogenic diseases”. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an independent, internationally recognized research, and supervise graduate students.
Application
Applicants should send by e-mail the following
documents, as a single PDF file, to: cmartinat@istem.fr:
• Cover letter, including a motivation statement (1 page)
• Detailed CV, including a summary of the candidate’s research experience
• The application must contain a research plan that outlines research visions and topics. The proposed research must complement/strengthen other research activities at I-STEM.
