Postdoctoral scholar position at the UCLA
The Center For Iron Disorders (PIs: Tomas Ganz and Elizabeta Nemeth) at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, Department of Medicine are looking for a Postdoctoral scholar to start in May 2018 (negotiable).
Description: The postdoctoral project investigates the role of Zip8, an iron transporter that is primarily expressed in the lung. Zip8 is induced by infection and inflammation, and based on promising preliminary mouse data, we hypothesize that Zip8 has a role in pulmonary host defense, lung injury and repair, and/or lung development. We are a medium-sized biomedical research laboratory interested in iron homeostasis and its disorders, and have a dynamic team of faculty members, graduate students, postdocs, and staff scientists. We prioritize the nurturing of young scientific careers, and have a decades-long track record in placing our postdocs in their desired careers, including academics and industry.
Requirements: By the time of hire, applicants should have completed a graduate program in a field related to molecular cell biology, physiology, or microbiology. The applicant must be willing to work with mouse models. We will provide any training necessary.
